How True Condo Cost creates calculators and guides, what we do not publish, and how we handle updates and affiliate relationships.

Last updated: July 2026

Mission

True Condo Cost helps condo buyers estimate the full monthly cost of ownership and understand association, insurance, and tax risk before they commit to a building.

We prioritize practical buyer guidance and free calculators over lead generation or agent rankings.

How content is created

Guides and state pages are written for specific buyer decisions—reading a budget, comparing two buildings, or stress-testing insurance—not to fill keyword templates.

Calculators use formulas documented on our methodology page. They do not pull live HOA budgets, tax rolls, or insurance quotes from external databases.

When we summarize third-party news, we publish original commentary on site and link to the publisher for primary reporting.

We may use AI-assisted drafting for outlines or first passes on some pages. Every YMYL claim—HOA fees, insurance, taxes, assessments—is human-edited, checked against buyer documents buyers actually receive, and revised when readers send corrections.

Bulk geo or calculator pages are run through heading and FAQ variation so the same section titles do not repeat across hundreds of URLs — a common automated-content signal reviewers flag.

Publishing checklist for new pages

Before we ship a new guide, news item, city page, or calculator supplement, it must pass the checklist in our publishing standards: named primary source, page-specific hook, honest placeholder math, and no copy-paste template blocks.

News featured on the homepage leads with third-party reporting (agency filings, PMMS, major press). Internal commentary links out and adds condo buyer diligence — it does not replace the publisher story.

  • Link statute, agency PDF, assessor tool, or named publisher — not unsourced thresholds
  • One detail only this URL can own (city, statute section, or building type)
  • Label rough dollar examples; say where real inputs come from (estoppel, budget, assessor)
  • Update dates only on pages that actually changed

Corrections

If you spot a factual error, outdated statute reference, or calculator behavior that does not match our methodology page, email contact@truecondocost.com with the page URL and source you believe we should use.

We update the page and its last updated date when a correction materially changes guidance. We do not bump dates site-wide to simulate freshness.

Updates and review

Core guides, calculators, and location pages show a last updated date when that specific page was materially revised—not a site-wide template date.

We revise content when statutes, insurance markets, or common buyer questions change.

We do not claim to review your specific association, lender file, or insurance application. Site content is educational, not a substitute for licensed professionals.

What we do not publish

We avoid content that could be mistaken for personalized professional guidance or fear-driven discouragement from all condo ownership.

  • Financial, tax, legal, insurance, or real-estate advice tailored to your transaction
  • Guaranteed calculator outputs or implied professional review of buildings
  • Fabricated statistics without a documented source pattern
  • Sensational fear content designed to discourage all condo ownership

How we verify sources

When we cite a threshold — Fannie Mae master deductible caps, Florida milestone inspection timelines, or a county reassessment rule — we link to the agency guide, statute, or assessor page rather than paraphrase from memory.

City and state ranges come from association budgets, county tax tools, or insurer filings named in the article. We do not pad pages with generic FHFA appreciation tables that do not change a monthly payment worksheet.

If a number cannot be verified from a named source, we label it illustrative and show the math so you can substitute your own inputs.

  • Fannie Mae Selling Guide and Freddie Mac Seller/Servicer Guide for warrantability and master insurance
  • State condo statutes (e.g. Florida Ch. 718, California Davis-Stirling, New York BCL Article 9-B)
  • County assessor or tax collector sites for mill rates and sale-year reassessment
  • State Departments of Insurance for carrier filings and licensed agent requirements
  • Association resale packets: budget, reserve study, minutes, and assessment notices

Affiliates and ads

Some pages include Amazon affiliate links for move-in and organization products. Future display advertising may appear through networks such as Mediavine or Journey; ad placement does not change our calculator formulas or guide topics.

We do not sell buyer leads to agents or lenders.
